Data Safety
We know that trusting an app with information about medications, appointments, and daily health routines is a significant decision — especially when it involves a loved one. Here is a plain-English explanation of how Viever protects that trust.
Encryption in transit
Every time the app communicates with our servers — syncing medications, sending a message to your carer, updating your daily progress — that communication is encrypted using TLS 1.3. This means that even if someone intercepted the data as it travelled across the internet, they would see only unreadable encrypted content.
Encryption at rest
All of your data stored on our servers is encrypted at rest using AES-256 encryption, provided by Google Cloud. This protects your information even in the unlikely event of physical hardware being compromised at the data centre level.
You control access
Viever uses strict server-enforced security rules that define exactly who can read and update each piece of your data.
Your own account can always access your own information. A linked carer can view your full health picture — including your profile, activity, medications, appointments, mood, progress, and daily snapshots — and can also update your medications and appointments on your behalf. This access exists only because you chose to link to them. The moment you remove that link, their access is revoked instantly.
No one else — including other Viever users, Viever staff, or anyone else — can access your health data.
These rules are enforced at the database level, not just in the app. This means even if someone found a way to bypass the app itself, the database would still reject unauthorised requests.
Your files are protected
Photos you attach to appointments, images shared by your carer, and any audio recordings are stored in Google Cloud Storage. Access is restricted to your account only. Shared files between you and your carer use time-limited secure tokens — the file itself is never publicly accessible.
We do not sell your data
Your personal health information is never sold, rented, or shared with advertisers or data brokers. It is used solely to provide the Viever service to you.
Infrastructure you can trust
Viever runs on Google Cloud Platform, which maintains:
ISO/IEC 27001 certification (information security management)
SOC 2 Type II compliance (security, availability, and confidentiality)
Physical data centre security with 24/7 monitoring
Your device
Data is also stored locally on your device so the app works smoothly. This local data is protected by your phone's built-in security — your screen lock, Face ID, or fingerprint. We strongly recommend keeping your device lock screen enabled.
